Time to Post Cal-OSHA Form 300A Summary Notice
It is time to prepare your Cal/OSHA Form 300A - Annual Summary of Work-Related Injuries and Illnesses. Certain organizations, as required under applicable law, need to post an annual summary of work-related injuries or illness regardless if any were reported or documented.
As stated earlier, certain organizations are required to have their annual summary posted. However, some organizations are exempt from meeting this requirement if they fall under a specific industry as recognized under applicable state regulations, unless they are explicitly asked or mandated by Cal-OSHA to post the annual summary. A list of the type of exempt industries can be found under Appendix A of Section 14300.2 (reference web link below).
Cal-OSHA Form 300A is an annual summary report of any work-related accidents or injuries which may have occurred throughout the prior calendar year. Employers having to meet this requirement document/log any work-related injuries or illness on Cal-OSHA Form 300. From the log, information is used to appropriately complete the annual summary form.
Form 300A must be posted by February 1 of each year and remain posted until April 30th. The Form must be posted in a conspicuous location freely and safely accessible by all employees. A good location would be near your company's other mandated postings.
HRC Members can access all the required Forms and instructions on the HRC member site (login required). Forms and instructions can also be accessed on the Cal-OSHA website (reference web link below).
